DESCRIPTION
This excursion takes us along the island, from east to west. First, we visit the beautiful and historic chapel of "Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves", above the island's capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma. We continue to "La Concepción" viewpoint, which offers a wonderful view over the city, the port and the east coast of La Palma.
Then, we go up a winding mountain road to the other side of the island. The first stop on the west side is Caldera de Taburiente National Park Visitor Centre near El Paso. It gives us a lot of information about the whole island, the main points are history, geology, volcanology, flora and fauna. Then we head to Los Llanos.
We drive through the city to the main entrance to the Caldera de Taburiente National Park. This is followed by a tour of the gorge, "Las Angustias", the slope of the National Park. We will stop at the port of Puerto Tazacorte, having free time here to walk around the old or new port or simply enjoy the time comfortably on a terrace.
Above the town of Tazacorte, through huge banana fields, the journey to the lava flow from the San Juan volcano (1949) to the colorful ceramic "Plaza de las Manchas" was tastefully designed by an island artist and combines volcano, flora and art.
From here, we drive back down the mountain road to the east side of the island and towards Santa Cruz de La Palma port.
